How To Re-create The ‘Gossip Girl’ Reboot Outfits Sustainably – Part 3

6 outfits worn by Luna La in Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl defined an entire generation and had a big influence on the fashion of the 2010s. What the characters wore played a huge role in the teen drama, and Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen are still seen as true fashion icons. Two years ago, it was announced the hit series would be coming back with a new cast. Both the original and the reboot, have the same costume designer, which can only result in new iconic and influential fashion to inspire the new generation. It’s been around nine years since the last episode aired, so obviously the fashion has changed. The outfits in the reboot fit the current trends and the main characters each have their own style. Do you want to recreate their most iconic looks so far, without having a big impact on the earth? Continue reading to see some similar pieces from sustainable brands, so you can start dressing like an Upper East Sider.

In this post, we’re looking at six looks from Luna La, played by Zión Moreno. This is part 3 of a 5 part series. In the previous posts, we focused on Audrey Hope and Monet de Haan. Stay tuned for the looks from two other main characters: Julien Calloway and Zoya Lott.

Luna La

In the show, Luna La is the queen of mean and always knows everything about everyone. Her style consists of luxury brands, mini skirts, boots, classy sweaters and of course a white shirt or feminine top. And, like all the other girls, a bow or ribbon around her neck.

Browse Your Own Closet

First of all, the most sustainable (and cheapest) way of recreating outfits is of course by being creative with items you already own. You can also thrift if you don’t own anything that fits the style. In the case of Luna La, looking for vintage luxury bags or other items from brands like Louis Vuitton, Burberry or Fendi will get you pretty far. As for colours, go for white, black, dark blue, grey and brown. If you can find a mini skirt with a white sweater, boots and a designer bag, you have her look figured out! Below are some looks I put together inspired by her style, with things I already had in my closet. In the first outfit, I’m wearing a beautiful off-white shirt from sustainable brand Alchemist. Most of the other items were thrifted.

How Sustainable Is The Big Red Boot From MSCHF?

In just a matter of weeks, these big red boots have captivated the internet with very mixed opinions and reactions. You either love them or hate them. The cartoon inspired shoes look pretty much identical to the boots Astro Boy wears together with his black underwear, although there are more animated characters you can associate them with. The company who created them mentioned Boots from Dora The Explorer on their website, who also wears bright red boots. But what are the boots made of and what are the downsides of a product suddenly going viral only for it to disappear again months later?…

5 Easy Ways To Dress More Sustainably To Lower Your Impact

The fashion industry is one of the biggest contributors to climate change, so it’s really important we try to improve this while we still can. We have a lot of influence on this as consumers (maybe even more than brands, although this is very debatable). We can make a big difference if we’re mindful of every purchase we make and treat clothes just better in general. In this post, I’m giving 5 tips on how you can change your shopping behaviour to lower the impact you have on the environment. Don’t worry, some of these might be easier and cheaper than you think! You don’t have to feel discouraged if you can’t immediately implement all these 5 points. Switching to a sustainable wardrobe is a process that can take a while and is different for everyone. Even if you decide to do 1 or 2 of them, you can already be very proud of yourself!…

    SISSEL EDELBO Review

SISSEL EDELBO is a Danish brand who repurpose Indian sari’s. Using upcycled materials is one of the most sustainable material choices you can make. When someone is done wearing a garment, it often ends up in landfill or it gets burned. Brands like this are therefore needed to give garments a second life and extend their lifecycles as much as possible. I bought two items from them a while ago. In this review, I’m going to give my thoughts and touch on the brand’s sustainability practices….
