A little more personal

Malu Hernandez

Textile Engineer & Sustainability Advocate

I’ll tell you a bit about myself. I’m in my mid-20s, born in South America, raised in Europe. I’ve been interested in fashion all my life and got into sewing at a very young age. In my teenage years, I started learning a bit about the industry that’s behind the clothes I was wearing. After moving across the country to get my Bachelor’s in Fashion & Textile Engineering, I learned just how complex the industry is and the impact it has on the environment. Truthfully, I think fashion and textiles is such an extensive subject that you can’t possibly learn it all in just 4 college years. I often struggled explaining to others how much is involved in producing textile products, and how important it is we change our ways, as it is one of the most polluting industries in the world. That’s why I started this blog. I want to share my knowledge while making the information easy to understand and also show sustainable fashion doesn’t have to look boring and repetitive.

I love researching and gathering as much information about a topic as I possibly can before writing my articles. That’s why I’m currently only releasing one blog post per month. I’ve always been more of a quality over quantity kind of girl. Sign up for the newsletter to get notified whenever there’s a new post, and follow me on Instagram for more frequent content!

For Businesses & Brand Owners

Let’s work together to make your company more valuable for society

My goal with this website and just life in general is to make the textile industry more sustainable. Promoting ethical brands and writing articles about the industry is one way I’m hoping to make that change. But I am also able to contribute internally by helping brands make the transition and lower the environmental and social impact their products have on the world.

As a freelance Sustainability Consultant, I can help improve the Corporate Social Responsibility strategy of your company, so you’re not creating new products while destroying something else. Contact me on my email [email protected] or LinkedIn and let’s make the fashion and textile industry a little better!
