How To Re-create The ‘Gossip Girl’ Reboot Outfits Sustainably – Part 4

7 outfits worn by Zoya Lott in Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl defined an entire generation and had a big influence on the fashion of the 2010s. What the characters wore played a huge role in the teen drama, and Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen are still seen as true fashion icons. Two years ago, it was announced the hit series would be coming back with a new cast. Both the original and the reboot, have the same costume designer, which can only result in new iconic and influential fashion to inspire the new generation. It’s been around nine years since the last episode aired, so obviously the fashion has changed. The outfits in the reboot fit the current trends and the main characters each have their own style. Do you want to recreate their most iconic looks so far, without having a big impact on the earth? Continue reading to see some similar pieces from sustainable brands, so you can start dressing like an Upper East Sider.

In this post, we’re looking at seven looks from Zoya Lott, played by Whitney Peak. This is part 4 of a 5 part series. The previous posts covered Audrey Hope, Monet de Haan and Luna La. Stay tuned for the looks from the fifth main character: Julien Calloway.

Zoya Lott

Zoya Lott is an activist and her style is a lot more thrifty and vintage compared to the other girls. A checked dungaree dress is a staple in her wardrobe. She wears checked flannels, shackets, multicoloured cardigans and hoodies over the dress, and white button-ups, polo shirts or tank tops underneath. She finishes her outfits with a scarf, bandana or tie around her neck and sociopolitical revolution book totes. As for shoes, she likes wearing combat boots and white sneakers.

Browse Your Own Closet & Thrift

First of all, the most sustainable (and cheapest) way of recreating outfits is of course by looking through your own wardrobe. In the case of Zoya Lott, you can also find a lot in thrift stores (and don’t skip the men’s section because you might find some oversized flannels or hoodies there).  Unlike the other girls’ styles, Zoya doesn’t seem to focus on a specific colour scheme, so you don’t have to worry about colours too much. Start by looking for a dungaree dress or even a checked skirt could work, and layer it with any flannel, hoodie or cardigan, and a white top underneath. Below are some items I pulled from my closet that I would use to recreate her style.

Why “Vegan Leather” is often Greenwashing

Veganism started off as a diet in which any products of animal origin are excluded.
