How To Dress Like Jules From Euphoria In A Sustainable Way

Thumbnail for blog post about how to dress like Jules from Euphoria in a sustainable way. Two outfits worn by Jules in Euphoria, and four items from sustainable brands to recreate the outfits.

When there’s a new TV show that takes place in high school or college, you know the fashion won’t disappoint. There have only been two seasons so far of Euphoria, but the style of the main characters has already made a big impact. A lot of the looks are not even realistic outfits you could wear to high school, especially if there’s a strict dress code, but you can still take inspiration for when you go out with friends or even if you want an easy Halloween fit. A lot of fast fashion brands have quickly jumped on the trends and you can see Euphoria-inspired items everywhere. However, there are many sustainable brands who have similar pieces as well, and you can also find a lot in thrift stores. So, if you’re obsessed with the fashion in Euphoria (as most people are), consider checking sustainable brands and secondhand shops first, so we don’t harm the planet too much with our fashion cravings.

In this post series, I’m diving into the most iconic looks from some of the main characters, and show you how you can recreate the looks with items from sustainable brands. In this first post, Jules Vaughn, who might be the most experimental and adventurous with her style. Check out the other posts to read the guides on how to dress like the other main characters Rue Bennett and Cassie Howard.

Jules Vaughn

Jules Vaughn, played by Hunter Schafer, is the free-spirited new girl in town with platinum blonde hair and colourful style, who instantly became close to Zendaya’s character, Rue Bennett. In the first season she wears generally feminine clothes like mini skirts, pink and purple colours and tight tops. To recreate this, you just have to collect all the pastel and candy coloured items you own and start layering. You can’t go wrong with a long sleeve mesh top, a baby tee on top, and a pleated mini skirt. The times she does wear more oversized clothes, you’ll see her in a bomber jacket or windbreaker and ripped baggy jeans.

Her style went through a bit of a transition from the first season to the second season. Her style is edgier and more androgynous in season two as she wears more baggy clothes and darker colours. So to recreate her season 2 looks, you can be a bit more comfy with oversized hoodies, big T-shirts and baggy pants.

Recreating outfits in a sustainable way, always starts with checking the clothes you already own. Jules’ style is all about layering so you probably already have some basic layering items, like a white T-shirt with a graphic design, a tight or cropped T-shirt, and maybe even a plaid skirt. The colours are probably the most important, so if you have the colour palette right, you’re pretty much already there. If you don’t own enough items to create a full Jules-inspired outfit, the next step would be to do some thrift shopping. You can do this at your local thrift store or on online apps and websites like Vinted, Depop, thredUP and Poshmark. Here are a few keywords you can use to find the most Jules-like items: sheer, mesh, pastel and candy colours, pleated and plaid skirts, short dresses, cropped baby tee, baggy jeans and tight long sleeve tops.

To keep you on the right path while you’re shopping, you can use the pictures above as a guideline where I compiled her most iconic looks.

Now I’ll share with you a list of items from sustainable brands that are similar to the items she wears in Euphoria. None of them are exact replicas (obviously) but they have the same vibe as Jules’ anime, bubblegum style. All the brands are featured in the brand list here.

10 Sustainable Brands That Offer Plus Sizes

I have to be honest, I never looked into plus size fashion, so I didn’t know how difficult it actually is to find it. I went into this thinking I would just quickly list a few brands who have some nice options for curvy and plus-size women. Turns out, I didn’t have much to choose from. Most sustainable brands stop at size XL, so I can imagine why this would hold you back from shopping sustainably if you have a size bigger. But, the brands that do offer bigger sizes aren’t any less stylish. In this post, you will find 10 sustainable brands who offer sizes above XL…

This Is Why Air Drying Is Better Than Tumble Drying

Every choice we make can have a profound impact on the environment. When there’s a machine or tool that can make our daily lives easier and more comfortable, we are always quick to purchase it. But have we gone too far? Where do we draw the line between necessity and excessiveness? Maybe some of the products the corporate world is giving us, are not the best choice for us and the planet. In this article, we’re going to look at what tumble dryers are doing to our clothes and the environment, and why you should consider the natural and sustainable alternative to dry your laundry…

Your Laundry Is Polluting Your Drinking Water: An Introduction To Microplastics

In the early 1900s, a new material was created that we now know as plastic. At the time, plastic was seen as a revolutionary invention and it is currently the most used material in a lot of different industries: packaging, construction, electronics, fashion and more. It’s cheap, durable and lightweight and the number of possible applications is practically unlimited. There are however a lot of disadvantages of plastic that are coming to light and far outweigh the positives. Our rivers and oceans are filling up with plastic, affecting animals, the environment and our own health. This 3-part series of posts will highlight an invisible threat that is entering our drinking water, how fashion is involved and what you can do to lower your own impact. In this first part, I’m going to introduce you to microplastics…
