The summer solstice was just a few days ago, and one of the pieces you’ll see a lot in summer 2022, is a mini skirt. Mini skirts first made an appearance in the 60s but the 2022 version is more inspired by the early 2000s: low-waisted and very, very short. It seems a more fitting name for the mini skirt this year, is micro-mini. They are as tiny as possible. Not everyone will feel comfortable wearing a skirt that’s nearly the size of a belt, so I’ve compiled a list of ethical and wearable options that you can also continue wearing after this season if you do a bit of layering.

This list has 30 skirts that are short and some even very short, but still wearable. And when the summer is over, you can layer the skirts with tights and a long coat as we transition back to the fall and winter. As always, all of these skirts are from brands that put effort into making the production process of their items as eco-friendly as possible. You can read about the sustainability efforts of each brand by clicking on the links below the pictures. Visit the Brand List page to see the full list of sustainable brands all over the world.

If you don’t mind showing some skin and want to wear a micro-mini low-waisted skirt to recreate the Y2K style, try finding one on secondhand shopping platforms like Depop and Vinted, or travel around your country or city and visit all thrift stores until you find the perfect tiny skirt.

Now let’s get to this list. Let me know if you’ll be wearing a mini (or micro) this summer!

The 20 Best Sustainable Alternatives To Levi’s Jeans

Levi’s is one of the oldest and most well-known denim companies in the world. Usually when I find sustainable alternatives and compare brands, I’m talking about polluting and problematic fast-fashion brands. In this case, Levi’s is not so much fulfilling the same role as they are making an effort to become more sustainable. However, there are many smaller denim companies who have had sustainability as their main priority since their inception and are continually innovating ways to make jeans better for planet and people. The initiatives of these sustainable brands are often drowned out by advertisements of big brands, while they are actually a lot further along on their sustainability journey than Levi’s is. In this post, I analyse 20 Levi’s jeans and present to you similar ones that are more responsibly-made. And before you think they will be way outside your budget: half of them are around the same price and some even cheaper. So if you can afford Levi’s, you can also afford these more sustainable ones…

Your Laundry Is Polluting Your Drinking Water: An Introduction To Microplastics

In the early 1900s, a new material was created that we now know as plastic. At the time, plastic was seen as a revolutionary invention and it is currently the most used material in a lot of different industries: packaging, construction, electronics, fashion and more. It’s cheap, durable and lightweight and the number of possible applications is practically unlimited. There are however a lot of disadvantages of plastic that are coming to light and far outweigh the positives. Our rivers and oceans are filling up with plastic, affecting animals, the environment and our own health. This 3-part series of posts will highlight an invisible threat that is entering our drinking water, how fashion is involved and what you can do to lower your own impact. In this first part, I’m going to introduce you to microplastics…
