They created a tool called RefScale, which tracks their environmental footprint. For each product, you can see how many pounds of carbon dioxide emissions and gallons of water were required for the production. They have been carbon neutral since 2015. They produce in different countries, like the US, Mexico, Morocco, Turkey and China. The list of factories is shown on the website
In 2020, 95% of their fabrics met A or B ratings from their own fiber standard, like Lyocell, deadstock fabrics, recycled cotton, organic cotton, Better viscose, recycled cashmere and linen. Some of the 5% less sustainable materials are ECONYL, Alpaca, silk and leather
They built their own factory in Los Angeles and manufacture many of the products there. Their workers are introduced on the website, and 100% of the Ref team meet or exceed the living wage. Their manufacturing partners and suppliers need to adhere to their Code of Conduct, and they participate in annual independent, third-party social assessments
Together with thredUP, Reformation makes it possible for you to sell or recycle your old clothes. They also try to recycle their fabric scraps as much as possible. Right now, they recycle about 75% of all their garbage
