Usually when I find sustainable alternatives and compare brands, I’m talking about polluting and problematic fast-fashion brands. In this case, Levi’s is not so much fulfilling the same role as they are making an effort to become more sustainable. However, there are many smaller denim companies who have had sustainability as their main priority since their inception and are continually innovating ways to make jeans better for planet and people. The initiatives of these sustainable brands are often drowned out by advertisements of big brands, while they are actually a lot further along on their sustainability journey than Levi’s is.
